Went and saw Dub Inc. (French Reggae band) on Monday perform two different shows at two different venues. The first was at 2pm at a lunchtime spot with few people in attendance. It was great to have such an intimate setting, allowed for me to meet the band, speak with them and even be in a promotional video they shot for a venue friendly to the band in France.
I did not plan to attend the show at SOB's in the evening but after becoming friendly with the band, was hard to resist. Boy am I glad I went. Totally different performance. Not that the 2pm show was bad, but was very subdued. At night, the band had a lot of passion and energy up on stage! they got the crowd Dancing, Singing, Smiling. They have two lead singers who have a variety of styles, incorporating Jamaican Reggae, with tendencies and sounds from North Africa, France and the Arab world. makes for a very interesting mixture of sounds!
While their studio stuff is good (they gave me one of their albums), I highly recommend you check them out live. The experience itself greatly adds to the music, and their voices sound just as good, if not better in person!
